Books on reviews about international films are quite common. But in Kannada they are practically non-existent. Now a book in Kannada which has comprehensive reviews about 32 international films and 30 directors, has stepped in to fill that gap.

‘Chitra Kathe’ authored by A N Prasanna, talks about plots and synopsis of the film and provides a brief introduction of the director of the particular movie.

Releasing the book, Vice President of Federation of Film Societies of India, H N Narahari Rao said this was the first step towards film criticism. Appreciating the effort made in putting all the reviews together, he said it was a wonderful introduction to the world on non-Indian cinema. Responding to an opinion that the reviews were short on technical details about the making of the movie, Prasanna said the book was meant to be an entry level book, and was therefore suited more to that level.
